Town of Clinton    Board Meeting    February 13, 2019

 

Properly posted meeting was called to order at 7 pm with the pledge of allegiance. In attendance were Chairman John LaDue, Supervisor Dan Chaulklin, Supervisor James Chapiewsky, Clerk Sandy Schweiger, Treasurer Jan Clark, Mava Clark, Pandora Flores, Anthony Halverson, Jake Miller, Lonnie Muller, Scot Sanders and Alvin Schrock.

 

Three motions were made in succession by Supervisor Chapiewsky, 2nd by Supervisor Chaulklin to approve the financial report, transfers and bill payment; all ayes, motions carried. The transfers were $27,000 from savings to checking, $382,295.12 from tax savings to checking, $7,114 from savings to money management and $88,932.26 from tax savings to money management.

 

Chairman LaDue provided an update regarding the emergency replacement of the shop furnace. Extreme weather necessitated immediate action; new unit was $2,000 with credits and has 10-year warranty.

 

The backhoe continues to experience long-term issues; total repairs of $13,753 have been made since 2011. The yellow truck has starter issues and needs a new wing.

 

With road bans in the near future, signs need to be located for speedy installation. Boundary lines will be posted with emphasis on Ogden, Oneida, Clinton Ridge, Knapp and Irish Ridge. Violators will be reported to the sheriff’s office.

 

Ongoing concerns over the site permit process have yet to be resolved. The assessor has noted complications arising from new laws while the county is pursuing enforcement of state laws regarding plumbing and floodplain construction which will include fines of $100 per day.

 

Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion to accept minutes from January, 2nd by Supervisor Chaulklin; all ayes, motion carried.

 

Chairman LaDue is still pursuing the possibility of designating some roads Class B highways, but is awaiting more information. Brushing should be considered when plowing is not necessary, although there has been plenty of time devoted to that of late. Many residents have expressed appreciation of plowing efforts. A light at the shop needs repair; Dave Clark will be contacted.

 

Anthony Halverson requested a fire sign as he is currently sharing a mailbox.

 

Jan Clark inquired about a tool inventory which has yet to be completed.

 

Reminder that spring election is April 2. At 9 pm, Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion to adjourn, 2nd by Supervisor Chaulklin; all ayes, motion carried.
