Town of Clinton Board Meeting

September 18, 2024

7:00 pm at the Town Hall, S1299 County Road D

Board Minutes

Meeting called to order by Chairman Leis at 7:00pm:

Pledge of Allegiance:

Roll Call:

  • Chairman Corey Leis, Supervisor #1 Darin Von Ruden, Supervisor #2 Bill Stock, Town Treasurer Jan Clark, Town Clerk Lori Hemmersbach

Financial Report and Bills:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the Financial Report. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Stock/Von Ruden moved to approve the 9/19/24 transfer of $7,000.00 from Savings to Checking. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P Von Ruden/Stock moved to pay $30,000.00 on the Scotts Construction bill. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Stock/Von Ruden moved to approve the 9/19/24 transfer of $30,000.00 from Savings to Checking. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P Von Ruden/Stock to pay the bills. (3 ayes)

Approve Minutes:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the 8.12.24 Board Meeting Minutes. (3 ayes)

Public Comment:

  • Town Resident, Fred Brandt asked if it would be possible to get the engineering firm notice that is in the announcement board at the Town Hall for the website. Corey said he would talk to Phil about getting a clear copy and the engineering drawing.

2024 Road Projects:

  • New large road culvert inventory is due 12/15.
  • Ditch work needs to be down, have been waiting for new mower to get it done. New mower not shipped yet. Old mower not working, no parts available to fix it affordably.
  • County will start delivering salt in the next couple of weeks. $101/ton. We will need about 75 ton, approximately 4 truck loads.

Shop Overhead Door Replacement:

  • Corey sent paperwork back for Community Grant award.
  • Doors are ordered from Swenson Doors about 3 weeks ago.

2024 Community Development Grant-Round 2:

  • No new ideas to apply for grant. Deadline is October 15.

2025 Budget Planning

  • Updated quite a few categories based on this year’s actual numbers to date. Clerk will update and get back to Board.

Open Book and Board of Review Dates:

  • Open Book: Tuesday, October 22- 9am-5pm
  • Board of Review: Tuesday, October 29 – hopefully 5pm-7pm, dependent on Assessor

Public Comment:

  • Town Resident Fred Brandt mentioned that budget vs balance sheet numbers will tell where we are sitting towards the end of the year. We need to compare the projected expense to the actual.
  • Treasurer Clark said she got the invoice for the postage to have the tax notices printed by Abt.com and asked if they could again do them.
  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to have Abt.com print and send the property tax notices. (3 ayes)
