Town of Clinton Board Meeting
August 20, 2025
7:00 pm at the Town Hall, S1299 County Road D
Board Minutes
Meeting called to order by Chairman Von Ruden at 7:00pm
Pledge of Allegiance:
Roll Call:
- Chairman Darin Von Ruden, Supervisor #1 Joe Giles, Supervisor #2 John Chapiewsky, Town Treasurer Jan Clark, Town Clerk Lori Hemmersbach.
Financial Report and Bills:
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the Financial Report. (3 ayes)
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the 8.12.25 transfer from Savings to Checking of $5,000. (3 ayes)
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the 8.21.25 transfer from Savings to Checking of $23,400. (3 ayes)
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the transfer of $2,000.00 from Savings to Checking after the County Settlement is received.
- M/S/P Chapiewsky/Giles moved to pay the bills. (3 ayes)
Approve Minutes:
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the 7.9.25 Board Meeting Minutes as presented. (3 ayes)
Public Comment:
Shop Cement Replacement:
- In process, east door to do yet.
- Need to pour 3 ft under door and in to flatten and level slope outside to north to drain away from building. Will be another $2,000.00 or so.
- Should also put a 2” mat of blacktop around the new cement in the next year.
2025 Road Projects:
- Knapp Valley Road by David Detweiler’s needs another tube, by the sugar shack, a spring runs constantly and needs ditching with culvert addition to get the water to run properly.
- Lots of tree damage recently. Goplin Road has a couple of dead trees which may be in the right of way, not sure. Need to measure and see. If not will talk to landowner.
- Sink holes showing up- watch out for them and report when seen so they can be fixed.
Town Website:
- Lori has password to login. No other action.
New Plow Truck:
- At Universal for work needed. Greg from Universal says it will be about a year.
Town Truck Wing Repair:
- All fixed. Came in under quote of $7,200.00. Need to pickup from Universal.
2026 Budget Planning:
- No action.
Refuse on Bloomingdale Property:
- Hard to pursue on our own. Would need to have an ordinance to uphold.
- Still uncertain if we have Village Powers
- Involve Sheriff’s Office if something is in road right of way.
Vernon County Landfill MOU:
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles to sign Vernon County Landfill MOU as presented. (3 ayes)
Fire District Discussion:
- No update from Cashton as no one made the last meeting.
Public Comment:
- Lonnie Mueller commented that all Towns in Vernon County have Village Power except for Union. Lonnie also commented that if any rodents are sighted at the Bloomingdale property to call the Vernon County Health Department, they would respond for that.
- Town Resident Tamsen Morgan wanted to know where we know for sure we have Village Powers, not just hearsay.
Next Regular Board Meeting: Wednesday, September 17 at 7pm:
- Due to meeting being 1 week later, another transfer is needed for payroll and taxes.
- M/S/P: Chapiewsky/Giles moved to approve the transfer of $2,000.00 from Savings to Checking after the County Settlement is received.
