January 13, 2021
Meeting was called to order at 6:09 pm with the pledge of allegiance. In attendance were Chairman John LaDue, Supervisor 1 Corey Leis, Supervisor 2 James Chapiewsky, Clerk Sandy Schweiger, Treasurer Jan Clark, Patrolman Scot Sanders, Fred Brandt, Ranelle Brandt, Doug Ewing, Mark Hauser and Lonnie Muller.
Supervisor Leis made a motion to accept the financial report as read, 2nd by Supervisor Chapiewsky; all ayes, motion carried. Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion, 2nd by Supervisor Leis, to approve transferring $1,400 from savings to checking, $28,800 from money management to checking and an as yet unknown amount (for the January settlements) from tax savings to checking; all ayes, motion carried. Supervisor Leis made a motion, 2nd by Supervisor Chapiewsky, to approve payment of bills; all ayes, motion carried. Net income for 2020 was $14,949.79.
Chairman LaDue noted that a raise of 50 cents per hour was approved in closed session for the patrolman; also, the assistant will receive a 25 cent per hour increase. Three driveway permits have been granted with two pending; one new culvert is needed while Lester Detweiler on Knapp Valley needs an extension and fire number. There were 52 site permits last year. Mr. Muller commented that the county zoning administrator is requesting copies of site permits. Driveways may not go through a floodplain even if the building is out of the floodplain.
Payment was received for plowing Paul Conrad’s driveway, however, he is not a full time resident. Since this was not stipulated, it will be allowed but needs to be addressed next winter. Contract for fuel was signed with Premier Co-op.
Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion to approve the minutes, 2nd by Supervisor Leis; all ayes, motion carried. Board members agreed to acknowledge receipt of e-mails in future.
Mr. Sanders noted the county has been brushing on Dell, Parker and Weister Creek Roads. Next will be Norwegian Valley and East Bloomingdale if possible. He will be
meeting with Neil Gingerich on Norwegian Valley to cut trees in the right-of-way; also will check for falling trees on McElhose Road.
Supervisor Chapiewsky inquired about progress with septic issues; Chairman LaDue mentioned that some Amish have agreed to install septic systems, not just holding tanks.
Reminders that caucus is January 16th, 11 am at the town shop and next meeting is February 10th at 6 pm at the town hall. Mr. Sanders will obtain seal-coat prices before next meeting.
At 6:58 pm, Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion to adjourn, 2nd by Supervisor Leis; all ayes, motion carried.
