Budget Meeting 

October 20, 2021 

Meeting called to order at 7 pm with the pledge of allegiance. In attendance were Chairman Corey Leis, Supervisor 1 Wally Hemmersbach, Clerk Sandy Schweiger, Treasurer Jan Clark, Fred Brandt, Ranelle Brandt, Jeff Christianson, Mava Clark, Bob Erickson, Doug Ewing, Pandora Flores, Myron Jothen and Alvin Shrock. 

Mr. Leis noted that with the opening of the Supervisor 2 position candidates would be allowed to speak at the next board meeting. Mr. Hemmersbach made a motion to fill this position November 10th, 2nd by Mr. Leis; all ayes, motion carried. 

The budget has been finalized with a proposed levy of $258,317; loader payment of $14,703 will be included. Total expenses are projected at $1,216,304. Mr. Hemmersbach made a motion, 2nd by Mr. Leis to approve this proposal. Resolution 2-2021 was presented to exceed the allowable levy by $84,821, an increase of 53.42%. Motion made by Mr. Hemmersbach to pass this resolution, 2nd by Mr. Leis; all ayes, motion carried. 

Budget hearing is scheduled for November 17th to allow time for posting. 

Mr. Jothen questioned the length of Irish Ridge to be included in the $650,000, which would be 1.9 miles, noting this cost was equivalent to 20 miles of seal coat and 10 times more than ever spent on a town road. Mr. Jothen also asked if this could be voted down, wondering about a repayment plan. Mr. Leis responded that the project will be under contract and the board would discuss repayment in next year’s budget. 

Mr. Erickson wished to see Irish Ridge fixed. 

At 7:25 pm, Mr. Hemmersbach made a motion to adjourn, 2nd by Mr. Leis; all ayes, motion carried.
