Board Minutes

Meeting called to order by Chairman Leis at 7:00 pm:

Pledge of Allegiance:

Roll Call:

  • Chairman Corey Leis, Supervisor #1 Bill Stock, Supervisor #2 Darin Von Ruden, Town Treasurer Jan Clark, Town Clerk Lori Hemmersbach.

Financial Report and Bills:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the Financial Report. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the 5.11.2023 transfer of $51,000.00 from Money Management to Checking. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to pay the bills (3 ayes)

Approve Minutes:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the 3.8.2023 Board Meeting Minutes as written and as published as a draft on the website. (3 ayes)

Dumpster Service:

  • Big Hook Trucking & Disposal attended and offered a contract lining out their services and pricing, noting that they would haul all of our waste to the Vernon County Landfill. They currently serve over half of the townships in Vernon County. Board needs to research and discuss. No action taken.

Public Comment:

Annual Audit:

  • Subject was proposed at the Annual Meeting. Supervisor Stock will look into and bring back at least 3 quotes for both a full audit and a review of records.

Site Permit Review:

  • Chairman Leis explained that former Supervisor Bob Erickson had been handling site permits after he was appointed to the Board and continued to temporarily after his term was complete. Head Patrolman Scot Sanders will take over that duty. Bob commented his willingness to answer any questions.
  • Brief discussion on the site permit process and if our ordinance/permit process should be revised. The Board will to review. No action taken.

Road Project Update:

  • All planned new tubes are in except Township Rd 24, it will be done tomorrow.
  • All patching done except for Norwegian Valley. Patrolman will keep an eye out for other patching needed.
  • Lots of brushing and ditching to be done.
  • Irish Ridge Road: everything is done except for the last inch of ¾” gravel that Scott’s will put on and grade, then Scott’s will pave. Scotts mentioned if anyone on Irish Ridge wants their driveway paved to contact them, they will do a quote for the work and could pave will they are here working.
  • Seal coating: no timeline from Scott’s yet, should be in the next few weeks.
  • Patrolman Sanders has been trying to get direction from the DNR, now directed to Vernon County on the creek by Knapp Valley Road below Dawn Anderson’s, as it has moved a lot closer to the road. No luck so far.
  • Special Note: we received another voluntary ‘Buggy Tax’ contribution from the Amish Community in the amount of $21,200.00.

Spring Clean Up May 13, 2023:

  • Spring Clean Up is on May 13, 2023 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. 2023 disposal pricing is the same as 2022. The pricing information document is available for review on the website under the Information/Trash Collection & Recycling tab.

Open Book May 18, 2023:

  • Open Book is May 18, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Town Hall.

Board of Review May 25, 2023:

  • Board of Review is May 25, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Town Hall.
