Town of Clinton Board Meeting

October 10, 2023

7:00 pm at the Town Hall, S1299 County Road D

Board Minutes

Meeting called to order by Chairman Leis at 7:02 pm:

Pledge of Allegiance:

Roll Call:

  • Chairman Corey Leis, Supervisor #1 Darin Von Ruden, Supervisor #2 Bill Stock, Town Treasurer Jan Clark, Town Clerk Lori Hemmersbach.

Financial Report and Bills:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the Financial Report. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Stock/Von Ruden moved to approve the 10.11.23 transfer of $24,750.00 from Savings to Checking and the 10.11.23 transfer of $13,910.00 from Savings to Money Management. (3 ayes)
  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to pay the bills. (3 ayes)

Approve Minutes:

  • M/S/P: Von Ruden/Stock moved to approve the 9.20.2023 Board Meeting Minutes as written and as published as a draft on the website. (3 ayes)

Public Comment:

Road Project Update:

  • Have been graveling roads, need to get a few more loads to do Goplin. Will grade roads as moisture allows.
  • Working on final road ditch mowing for the season.
  • Sletten Road will need a new 12” culvert, will try to do this fall.

2024 Budget:

  • Reviewed budget that was emailed with numbers put in from last meeting.
  • Added in allowable levy amount of $166,890.

New Mower Purchase:

  • Patrolman Sanders shared information and prices on what was available. He will get more quotes on a couple more options and bring back to the Board.

Plow Truck Replacement:

  • No action

Site Permit Ordinance Review:

  • No action

Driftless Humane Society 2024 Agreement:

  • Animal Care Provider Agreement: the Town pays an initial fee of $250.00, due January 2024, and an additional fee of $200 per dog brought to DHS that is considered ‘unclaimed.’ The Town is not billed for animals reclaimed by their owners during the 4-day reclaim period.
  • M/S/P: Stock/Von Ruden to accept and sign the Animal Care Provider Agreement. (3 ayes)

Clinton Ridge Cemetery:

  • A Town resident had inquired as to who was in charge of the cemetery, specifically who to talk to and how to buy a plot.
  • Clinton Ridge Cemetery plot pricing, sales, opening/closing, and care are the Township’s responsibility per conversation with past Board Member Jim Chapiewsky.
  • The Board will research current plot rates and what is included.

October 14 Fall Cleanup Day 9am-3pm:

  • Clean Up cost sheet has been updated and is available on the Town website.
