Meeting was called to order in an extra warm town hall at 7pm with the pledge of allegiance. In attendance were Chairman John LaDue, Supervisor 1 Corey Leis, Supervisor 2 James Chapiewsky, Clerk Sandy Schweiger, Treasurer Jan Clark, Lonnie Muller and Alvin Schrock.
Supervisor Leis made a motion to accept the financial report as read, 2nd by Supervisor Chapiewsky; all ayes, motion carried. Supervisor Leis made a motion to transfer $37,247 from savings to checking and $170,000 from money management to checking, 2nd by Supervisor Chapiewsky; all ayes, motion carried. Supervisor Leis made a motion, 2nd by Supervisor Chapiewsky, to approve payment of bills; all ayes, motion carried.
With major road projects completed and contractors occupied, it was determined that bids would be solicited for a 700’ section of Ogden Road to be done in August. Sheldon’s bid in the spring, but resubmitted one for a longer segment. Bids must be received by August 10th to open at next meeting. Amendment of budget will be postponed until all project invoices are incorporated. Bridge at Jersey Valley needs reinforcing material on the west side.
Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion to approve the “Class B” liquor license request from Old Country Cheese, 2nd by Supervisor Leis; all ayes, motion carried. License fee is $50.
Clarification was made on when site permits are needed. Any addition or removal of a structure requires a site permit when it is larger than 100 square feet, including cabins on skids. Building permits are also required any time someone might be residing in the structure. Solar panels are excluded as they are exempt from property tax.
Supervisor Chapiewsky made a motion, 2nd by Supervisor Leis to approve the minutes; all ayes, motion carried.
On July 2nd a UTV accident occurred on Clinton Ridge Road, breaking off a pole. A bill will be expected from Cashton Fire Department. Speed exceeded the 35 mph limit.
Chairman LaDue requested input on culvert replacement as the county needs cost estimates for budgetary purposes. Two possible locations are on upper Knapp Valley.
A claim was filed against the town’s insurance; Supervisor Leis indicated his vehicle sustained glass damage when inspecting roads following a storm. The other board members emphasized the need to broach this at a meeting rather than contacting the insurance company directly.
Supervisor Leis inquired about additional patching; Chairman LaDue noted budgetary restrictions, but has received many favorable comments regarding the amount accomplished this year already. Mowing is a priority as calls have come in from county sheriff and highway as well as fire department. Supervisor Chapiewsky noted a culvert on Clinton Ridge can not be extended due to its concrete construction.
Partisan primary will be August 11; Scot Sanders and Mr. Schrock will be working on the walkway from the parking lot which is to be made from silo staves. Cashton Fire Department picnic is July 15th at the park.
